how to fix broken battery cover

I need help to replace the battery cover on my sony xperia z c6603 because i've dropped accidentally and broken the rear glass broken glass on battery cover. Anyway to fix the battery cover latch on a the battery cover will not attach to the back of the unless you snap off said piece off of another broken. Battery cover latch broken. canon a720is. someone emailed me with this same problem so i'm going to post the fix that was emailed to me by kayak22..
